Our Initiatives

As part of this mandate, ArchiAfrika is developing initiatives and projects to restore Accra’s historic Jamestown as one of the key cultural, tourist and creative hubs of Ghana. Jamestown can and must be developed organically with a focus on socio-economic development, rather than resorting to the current flawed model of urbanization. Archiafrika has planned and is implementing an urban rejuvenation program of taking old building stock and reorganizing its existing function into a contemporary creative space. These include the Archiafrika Architecture and Design Gallery, Jamestown Café, Franklin Lodge and the WatoClub.

About ArchiAfrika

ArchiAfrika strives to demonstrate that economic development in Africa can be sustainable, inclusive and socially relevant. We seek to promote design strategies developed within the continent, which address the challenges of our future and engage the next generation of professionals.

ArchiAfrika was founded in 2001 by a group of architects who, through the development of educational opportunity and economic growth on the continent, were eager to re-define the urban landscape of the African city.
